About our cause

About Us

The Remakery Oxford is a collaborative space where artists, makers, and innovators transform local waste into functional objects, art, and inspiration. Fostering circularity, community, and creativity, we provide resources, workshops, and a shared studio for those who lack the space and tools to work independently. With sustainability and innovation at our core, we aim to reduce waste, engage the community, and create meaningful employment opportunities, all while supporting the environment and creative economy in Oxford.

Our values

1.      Collaboration: We are friendly, humble and community spirited

2.      Curiosity: We are open-minded and experimental

3.      Respect: We respect people and the planet. We do not waste resources. We value diversity and we believe firmly in fairness. We put others first.

Core Principles

1.      As few as possible virgin materials will be used in design and production, i.e. the majority of the finished product will be made from upcycled materials

2.      Finished products, where applicable, will be recyclable or compostable

3.      Materials will be sourced locally with a minimum carbon footprint.

4.      Highly energy intensive processes will be avoided unless the gain significantly outweighs the energy inputs. Green energy will be used wherever possible, e.g. PV panels

5.      Products and services will have some commercial value but will be sold at fair prices

6.      Employment opportunities will be created, and people will be paid a fair wage

Aims

1.      Creating useful objects, food or art reconstituted, created or grown from Oxford’s waste

2.      To provide a space where makers, designers, entrepreneurs and artists with limited means and space (i.e. no studio) can work, store materials and equipment, share equipment and grow things

3.      Providing employment opportunities, especially for minorities or disadvantaged communities

4.      To engage the local community, schools and local businesses through workshops and educational events

Our Community

- Artists & Makers - wishing to share a space to collaborate, incubate ideas, share the space, tools, upcycled materials and have a common interest in making art & useful objects from local waste and sharing their expertise with local residents

 - Local Residents - wishing to attend workshops run by Artists & Makers with the theme of upcycling waste objects
